Robert H. Wendt runs the firm’s St. Louis office. He has a long and proven history of achieving verdicts and settlements in FELA, personal injury and product liability cases. In a recent FELA case, the Missouri Supreme Court affirmed a $2.5 million verdict that Bob won on behalf of a railroad worker with hearing loss and inner ear damage due to a defective door seal. A jury found that the railroad was in violation of the Locomotive Inspection Act, and awarded one of the largest verdicts in the history of FELA litigation for hearing loss.
Bob’s recent work in pursuing carpal tunnel claims against the railroads has been very successful and he considers it an important aspect of fighting for the rights of injured railroad workers and in making workplaces safer.
After earning his law degree from the University of Missouri, Bob began his career as a Public Defender in St. Louis, winning an acquittal in a first degree murder trial after only six months on the job. After entering private practice, Bob continued honing his exceptional trial skills, trying more than 100 cases with a success rate of over 90 percent.
Bob has a history of support for the labor movement. In 1968, he was part of the team that successfully defended the rights of three top officers from the Pipefitters Union to be involved in the political process through advocacy and political action committees. This right continues today as unions endorse and support political candidates and legislation.
Bob is an avid duck hunter and has a cabin in northern Minnesota where he enjoys fishing, hunting and water sports. He is a Missouri football booster, and is a St. Louis Blues season ticket holder.
